1980 Playoff Replay – World Series – Royals at Astros – Game 2

Game 1 to the Astros as they send Nolan Ryan (11-10 3.35 Grade X) to the mound against lefty Larry Gura (18-10 2.95 Grade 15Z) for the Royals.

The Royals get on the board first as they get 2 runs in the 3rd as Willie Aikens doubles in Willie Wilson and Hal McRae. In the 4th they would get 2 more off Ryan as unbelievably UL Washington would drive a 2 run homer down the line to right. With the score still 4-0 the Royals would get some insurance as Washington would double to drive in Clint Hurdle. Larry Gura was nothing short of outstanding. He would allow only 3 hits in the complete game shut out. The series is now tied as we head to Kansas City for the next 3 games.

Final Score: Royals 5, Astros 1

WP: Larry Gura (2-0)

LP: Nolan Ryan (1-1)

HR’s: Royals – UL Washington (1)
