APBA 1988 NLCS Replay – Game 2 – New York Mets @ Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers trying to go up 2-0 in the series send Tim Belcher (12-6 2.91 Grade XZG) to the hill opposite David Cone (20-3 2.22 Grade 19XZG).

The Mets would strike first again as they get 2 runs in the 2nd. Kevin McReynolds doubles in Darryl Strawberry and Cone would help himself with a sac fly to right to score McReynolds. Pitchers would keep them scoreless from there until the 6th when the Mets would get an insurance run. Strawberry lines a single to right and Gregg Jefferies scores just under the tag of Scioscia.

Cone kept throwing 0’s on the board and in the 9th the Mets would get another run when Howard Johnson would like a homer down the right field line to make it 4-0. The Dodgers would get a couple on in the 9th but Cone would get John Shelby for the final out and the shoutout victory 4-0. Series now tied 1-1 as we head to the Big Apple for games 3 through 5.

Final Score: Mets 4, Dodgers 0

WP: David Cone (1-0)

LP: Tim Belcher (0-1)

HR’s: Mets – Howard Johnson (1)
