The Giants would grab the lead in the 2nd, scoring 3 runs. Terry Whitfield with a 2 run homer being the big blow. The Phillies would scratch across a run in the 5th to make it 3-1. The Giants looking to even the series sends lefty Vida Blue (18-10 2.79 Grade 15) to the bump opposite Dick Ruthven (13-5 2.99 Grade 12) for the Phillies. Just as with Game 1 this one belonged to the pitchers. The get a run in the 2nd when Richie Hebner goes for a triple to drive in Greg Luzinski. In the 4th they would scratch another run with some ABC baseball. Mike Schmidt walked, Luzinski get a base knock, Hebner lays down a perfect sacrifice and Garry Maddox brings home Schmidt with a sac fly.
