Game 2 – 1985 Tournament Replay Red Sox at Blue Jays

The Blue Jays trying to bounce back send Doyle Alexander (17-10 3.45 Grade 13Z) to the mound against Bruce Hurst (11-13 4.51 Grade 4XZ).

The Red Sox would strike first in the 2nd scoring a run via solo homer by Tony Armas. The Blue Jays would even the score with a run of their own as Rance Mulliniks doubles home Ernie Whitt. Sox would get the lead right back in the top of the 3rd as Dwight Evans would take Alexander out to left. In the 6th the Red Sox would open the game up getting 3 more runs. Bill Buckner and Mike Easler with huge RBI hits. This would be all Hurst would need as he would go the distance only allowing the one run on 7 hits. So far no offense from the Blue Jays and the Red Sox lead the series 2-0.

Final Score: Red Sox 5, Blue Jays 1

WP: Bruce Hurst (1-0)

LP: Doyle Alexander (0-1)

HR’s: Red Sox – Dwight Evans (1), Tony Armas (1)
