Game 4 – 1978 Tournament Replay Orioles vs Pirates

Game 4 has the Orioles sending left hander Scott McGregor (15-13 3.32 Grade 12) to the hill versus Jim Rooker (9-11 4.24 Grade 4).

The Pirates again would get on the board first. Willie Stargell doubles in Frank Tavaras and John Milner singles in Stargell. The Orioles would unload on Rooker in the 2nd, sending 10 men to the plate and scoring 5 runs. The big hit from Andres Mora, a 3 run homer to center.

Stargell would try to the Pirates going by lining a long solo homer to right center off McGregor in the 4th. Orioles would answer adding single runs in the 4th and 8th. The Pirates tried to rally in the 8th scoring 2, but Don Stanhouse would come in and pick up the save for McGregor and give the Orioles a commanding 3-1 lead in the series.
