Mariners look to steal game 2 and thus home field advantage send Paul Mitchell (8-14 4.18 Grade 4) to the mound, while Montreal counters with Steve Rogers (13-10 2.47 Grade 16). This one was over quick as the Expos strike for 6 in the 2nd inning including big RBI hits by pitcher Rogers and Ellis Valentine. The Mariners would scratch out a run against Rogers in the 7th but it was too late. Expos add 4 more insurance runs in the 8th courtesy of a Gary Carter grand slam homer making it 10-1.
