Expos sweep the Mariners in this play in series 3-0. Game 1: Expos 8, Mariners 2 Game 2: Expos 10, Mariners 1 Game 3: Expos 9, Mariners 7 MVP: Warren Cromartie .615 Avg, 8 hits, 1 HR, 4 RBI Expos move on and face the Yankees in what should be a fun series.

Must win game 3 for the Mariners as they return home to the Kingdome. The Expos start Woodie Fryman  (5-7 3.61 Grade 4) against Glenn Abbott (7-15 5.27 Grade 1). Well the Mariners needed a strong pitching performance but it was not to be. The Expos get all over Abbott scoring 7 runs in 3 innings. Andre Dawson connects on a long homer in the 1st. Dave Cash connects on a 3 run shot in the second, and Warren Cromartie jacks a two run shot in the 3rd. This would be all the Expos would need despite a rally by the Mariners to get within 2 runs in the 7th. Mariners look to steal game 2 and thus home field advantage send Paul Mitchell (8-14 4.18 Grade 4) to the mound, while Montreal counters with Steve Rogers (13-10 2.47 Grade 16). This one was over quick as the Expos strike for 6 in the 2nd inning including big RBI hits by pitcher Rogers and Ellis Valentine. The Mariners would scratch out a run against Rogers in the 7th but it was too late. Expos add 4 more insurance runs in the 8th courtesy of a Gary Carter grand slam homer making it 10-1. This second round play in series matches the #26 Seattle Mariners who defeated the #25 Toronto Blue Jays against the #16 Montreal Expos. The Mariners will attempt to knock out both Canadian teams from this tournament. The winner of this series will face the #1 seed and World Champion New York Yankees. The Mariners are sending Rick Honeycutt (5-11 4.89 Grade 1) to the mound opposite 20 game winner Ross Grimsley (20-11 3.05 Grade 14).
