The Cardinals picked up game one but the A’s still have a chance to steal home field with a win in Game 2. The A’s sent John Henry Johnson to the mound countered by Bob Forsch for the Cards. Both teams get on the board early as the Cardinals get in a run in the bottom of the 1st and the A’s got a run in the top of the 3rd. After St. Louis gets an RBI single from Mike Tyson in the 4th the A’s finally grab a lead with 2 in the top of the 6th helped by an error by Jerry Mumphrey. The A’s can’t hold the lead as the Cards get 2 off reliever Bob Lacey in the 8th. Mike Tyson again with the huge double. Closer Mike Littell comes on to get the save and the Cardinals have a commanding 2-0 lead.
