Game 3 – 1978 Tournament Replay Expos vs Mariners

Game 3

Must win game 3 for the Mariners as they return home to the Kingdome. The Expos start Woodie Fryman  (5-7 3.61 Grade 4) against Glenn Abbott (7-15 5.27 Grade 1). Well the Mariners needed a strong pitching performance but it was not to be. The Expos get all over Abbott scoring 7 runs in 3 innings. Andre Dawson connects on a long homer in the 1st. Dave Cash connects on a 3 run shot in the second, and Warren Cromartie jacks a two run shot in the 3rd. This would be all the Expos would need despite a rally by the Mariners to get within 2 runs in the 7th. Darold Knowles would come in late and hold off the Mariners for the save and the series win 3-0.

WP: Woodie Fryman (1-0)

LP: Glenn Abbott (0-1)

Save: Darold Knowles (1)

HR’s: Expos – Dave Cash (1), Andre Dawson (1), Warren Cromartie (1)

Expos move on to face the #1 seed New York Yankees
