Game 2 – 1978 Tournament Mets vs Cubs

Game 2

Cubs enter game 2 needing a win after giving away game 1 late. The Cubs send Dennis Lamp (7-15 3.30 Grade 12) to the mound while the Mets counter with Jerry Koosman (3-15 3.75 Grade 8). The Mets jump on the board in the first with a lead off triple by Lenny Randle and a sac fly by Tim Foli. The Cubs answered back with 2 in the bottom of the first including RBI by Greg Gross and Bill Buckner. The offenses would be on hiatus after until the Mets scratched across a run in the 7th. RBI double by catcher John Stearns being the big hit. With the score tied in the 8th the Cubs would get 2 off Koosman huge hits by Bobby Murcer and Manny Trillo. Bruce Sutter comes on to close out the game and tie the series up at a game a piece.
