Game 2 – 1978 Tournament Replay Expos vs Yankees

Game 2 features 2 big time pitchers in Ross Grimsley (20-11  3.05 Grade 14) for the Expos and Ed Figueroa (20-9 2.99 Grade 15).

This one had the potential to be a pitching duel and it didn’t disappoint. The Expos would strike first scratching across a run in the top of the 4th. Ellis Valentine drives in Andre Dawson with a double to left center. The Yankees would come right back with 2 in the bottom half. After a 1 out single by Reggie Jackson, Craig Nettles lines a 2 run homer to right. That would be all the scoring as both pitchers go the distance. Figueroa only allows 2 hits and the Yankees take a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Final Score: Yankees 2, Expos 1

WP: Ed Figueroa (1-0)

LP: Ross Grimsley (1-1)

HR: Yankees – Craig Nettles (1)
