Game 4 – 1978 Tournament Replay Yankees vs Expos

Must win game 4 has the Expos sending Woody Fryman (5-7 3.61 Grade 4) to the mound while the Yankees go with Jim Beattie (6-9 3.73 Grade 5).

This one got out of hand early as the Yankees throw a 6 spot in the first inning. Another huge 3 run homer by Mickey Rivers was the big blow. With the Yankees in cruise control the Expos get a run in the 3rd and a couple in the sixth but it was too little too late. Sparky Lyle and Goose Gossage come on to get the final 9 outs and the Yankees are moving onto the Elite 8.

Final Score: Yankees 8, Expos 5

WP: Jim Beattie (1-0)

LP: Woody Fryman (1-1)

Save: Goose Gossage (1)

HR’s: Yankees – Mickey Rivers (2), Expos – Chris Speier (1), Tom Hutton (1)

Yankees win 4-0.
