Game 3 – 1978 Tournament Replay Reds vs Angels

Pivotal Game 3 with the series tied at 1 features starters Tom Hume (8-11 4.14 Grade 5) for the Redlegs and Nolan Ryan (10-13 3.72 Grade 10) for the Angels.

The Reds would get to Ryan early pushing across a run in the top of the first. Dan Driessen with a 2 out RBI scoring Pete Rose. The score would remain 1-0 Reds until the Angels finally get on the board with a run in the 5th. Bostock drives in Carney Lansford to tie it at 1.

The game would remain tied at one through 9, and the game would go to extras. Relief pitching for both teams remained in control and we remained tied at 1 through 12 innings. The Angels would bring in Dyar Miller and wildness would cost him. He would walk two in the inning and a double by Joe Morgan would give the Reds a 2-1 lead. The Angels would get a lead off single in the bottom half, but Pedro Borbon would get a double play ball from Don Baylor and pick up the save. Reds win 2-1 and take a lead of 2-1 in the series.
