Game 7 – 1978 Tournament Replay Tigers vs Brewers

Winner take all Game 7 from County Stadium in Milwaukee. Brewers start lefty Jerry Augustine (13-12 4.54 Grade 4) while the Tigers counter with right hander Dave Rozema (9-12 3.14 Grade 12).

The Brewers would jump on top early as Sal Bando drills a two run shot in the first. The Tigers would bounce back with two of their own as John Wockenfuss doubles to left. With the score tied at 2 the Tigers would get single runs in the 4th and the 5th to take a 4-2 lead.

Ben Oglivie would get an RBI single in the 5th to pull the Brewers to within a run, where it would remain until the bottom of the 7th. In the seventh Robin Yount would double and would come home via another RBI by Oglivie. A sac fly by Cecil Cooper would give the Brewers the lead 5-4. Brewers would go to their bullpen and Bob McClure and Bill Castro would get the last 8 outs of the game and give the Brewers the series 4-3. Great, great 7 game series.

Final Score: Brewers 5, Tigers 4

WP: Bob McClure (1-1)

LP: Dave Rozema (1-2)

Save: Bill Castro (2)

HR’s: Brewers – Sal Bando (1)

Brewers move on to face the #5 Cincinnati Reds in the Elite 8. Should be another good series in that one.
