Game 1 – 1978 Tournament Replay Padres vs Dodgers

This Sweet 16 matchup features the #14 seed San Diego Padres vs. the #3 Los Angeles Dodgers. The Padres finished 84-78 and 4th in the NL West. The Dodgers finished 95-67 and was NL West and National League Champions.

This game featured two top level pitchers and they didn’t disappoint. Perry goes 7 innings giving up 6 hits and no runs. Sutton goes 8 innings and only gives up one run as a lead off walk to Bill Almon would result in the lone run of the game scoring. Rollie Fingers would get the last 6 outs and the Padres come out and take home field away with a 1-0 victory.
