Almost a must win Game 3 for the Dodgers and they send Tommy John (17-10 3.30 Grade 12) to the mound. The Padres trying to take complete control send Eric Rasmussen (12-10 4.06 Grade 6).
The Padres would jump out on top getting 2 quick runs off John in the first inning. RBI by Gene Richards and Dave Winfield puts the pressure on the Dodgers offense. They would finally respond with a run in the 4th via RBI double by Ron Cey. They would come right back and get 2 more in the 5th Steve Garvey and Cey once again driving in runs.
With the score 3-2 the Dodgers would break the game open scoring 3 in the 8th and 3 more in the 9th. John would go the distance to get the Dodgers back in this series. Padres still lead 2-1.
