Game 2 – 1978 Tournament Replay Pirates vs Orioles

Game 2 from Memorial Stadium has Don Robinson (14-6 3.47 Grade 11) on the mound for the Pirates against lefty Mike Flanagan (19-15 4.03 Grade 10).

Both teams offense come out swinging in this game. The Orioles get a run in the first via RBI from Eddie Murray. The Pirates would answer as Willie Stargell would double and be brought home on a single from Phil Garner. The Orioles would get some control of the game by scoring 2 runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings. Rich Dauer with a big 2 run single being the big hit. The Pirates get a run in the 6th as Manny Sanguillen just misses a homer but triples in John Milner.

The Orioles would bust this one open in the 6th as Ken Singleton hits the Baltimore special, a three run homer to right. This would give Baltimore a 8-3 and the bullpen lead by Don Stanhouse would finish off the Pirates. Orioles hold home field and lead 2-0 in the series.
