Game 3 – 1978 Tournament Replay Yankees vs Phillies

Phillies down 2-0 in the series send Larry Christensen (13-14 3.24 Grade 12) to the mound against Dick Tidrow (7-11 3.84 Grade 6).

The Yankees once again would strike first, and once again its Lou Piniella with a run scoring single to give the Yankees the 1-0 lead in the first. They would add another run in the second as Chris Chambliss is driven in via sac fly by Bucky Dent. The Yankees would put the game away with 4 runs in the 7th. Piniella and Chambliss again with big hits. The Phillies would try to get back in the game with 2 runs off Tidrow in the 7th but it was too little too late. The Yankees win the game and take a commanding 3-0 lead in the series.
