Back to old Comiskey Park for Game 3 of this playoff series. White Sox won both games in Cincinnati and send Floyd Bannister (10-14 4.87 Grade 3X) to the mound and the Reds send Jay Tibbs (10-16 3.95 Grade 7).
Reds finally get on the board first as they get a run in the top of 1st, Nick Esasky drives in Dave Parker. White Sox would get that run back and more as they explode for 5 runs in the bottom of the 1st and knock Tibbs out of the game. Greg Walker with a 2 run double, Carlton Fisk would double in Walker, and Luis Salazar would drill his third homer of the series to give the Sox a 5-1 lead. The Reds would score again in the top of the first as Gary Redus would single in Bo Diaz. Again the White Sox would answer with the bats. Walker and Fisk one more time drive in runs and we would have a 7-2 score after 2 innings of play.
The Reds would get 2 more runs in the 3rd as Davey Concepcion and Diaz drive in runs. It would be too little too late though as the White Sox would get insurance runs in the 7th and the 8th to win the game 9-4 and take a commanding 3-0 lead into Game 4.
Final Score: White Sox 9, Reds 4
WP: Floyd Bannister (1-0)
LP: Jay Tibbs (0-1)
HR’s: White Sox – Luis Salazar (3)
