Game 6 – 1985 Tournament Replay Orioles vs Dodgers

Back to LA for Game 6 as the Dodgers now lead the series 3-2. The Orioles will try to stay alive starting Mike Boddicker (12-17 4.07 Grade 6Y) while the Dodger will start Orel Hershisher (19-3 2.03 Grade 20YZ).

This was a crazy game….The Orioles would get 3 runs off Hershiser in the 2nd. Mike Young would deliver a RBI single and Rick Dempsey would drive in a run with a single to right that would be misplayed by RF Mike Marshall to allow another run to score. The Dodger would counter with 4 of their own in the bottom half. Bill Madlock would single in a run, Ken Landreaux would double home 2, and Steve Sax would bring home Landreaux.

The Orioles would get a run in the 5th to tie the game at 4, courtesy of a sac fly by Cal Ripken Jr. With the score 4-4 in the 8th the Orioles would get 2 to take the lead. Steve Sax would make a throwing error to allow Gary Roenicke to score and Young would double home Roenicke. As in the 2nd inning the Dodgers would answer right back. This time scoring 3 runs to take the lead going to the 9th. Pedro Guerroro would walk to lead off the inning, Greg Brock would walk to put runners on 1st and 2nd, and then Madlock would hit a 3 run homer off Sammy Stewart to give the Dodgers the lead. Tom Niedenfuer would come on to get the final 3 outs and the Dodgers escape with a win and the series 4 games to 2.

Final Score: Dodgers 7, Orioles 6

WP: Orel Hershiser (1-0)

LP: Sammy Stewart (0-2)
