Game 4 – 1985 Tournament Replay Yankees at Astros

Astros look to put the Yankees against the wall send Ron Mathis (3-5 6.04 Grade 1) to the mound versus Joe Cowley (12-6 3.95 Grade 6Y) for the Yankees.

The pitchers are in control early as the game stays scoreless through 5 inning. The Yankees would finally dent the scoreboard with a run in the 6th. Rickey Henderson would single and steal second and would be driven home by Don Mattingly. The Astros would answer right back in the bottom half with 2 runs. Kevin Bass would triple home Graig Reynolds and Jose Cruz would single home Bass. The Astros would score another run in the bottom of the 7th courtesy of a pinch hit RBI double by Terry Puhl.

Frank Dipino and Dave Smith would get the last 6 outs as the Yankees offense can’t get anything going. Astros win 3-1.
