Game 3 – 1985 Tournament Replay Mets at Padres

The Mets needing a win to get back into the series send Ed Lynch (10-8 3.44 Grade 10Y) to the mound against Dave Dravecky (13-11 2.93 Grade 14Z).

 

The Mets would get on the board first with a run in the 3rd. Wally Backman drives in Mookie Wilson with a single to center. The Padres would answer with 4 big runs in the bottom half. Tony Gwynn with an RBI single, Steve Garvey with a 2 RBI double, and Terry Kennedy with a RBI single. The Mets would answer right back with a 4 spot of their own in the 4th. Ray Knight and pinch hitter Tom Paciorek with big hits.

 

With the score 5-4 Mets, the Mets would get 3 more in the 5th. Darryl Strawberry tees off on a 3 run homer to right center. They would another run in the 6th and in the 9th Strawberry would again connect. This time a 2 run homer to right. The Mets bullpen would keep the Padre bats under control and we now have a series.

 

Final Score: Mets 11, Padres 5
