The Cardinals once again break the ice scoring 3 runs in the 5th as Willie McGee doubles in 2 runs and Tommy Herr singles home McGee. The White Sox would answer back with 2 of their own in the bottom half as Luis Salazar doubles home a run and Rudy Law singled home Salazar. White Sox trying to steal a game in St. Louis send Britt Burns (18-11 3.96 Grade 7X) to the mound and the Cardinals send Danny Cox (18-9 2.88 Grade 15Z).   The Cardinals would once again score first, this time scoring a run in the 3rd via a solo homer by Darrell Porter. Pitchers would be in control and keep it 1-0 until the 8th when the Cardinals would bust the game open with 4 runs. Tommy Herr, Andy Van Slyke, and Terry Pendleton with big RBI hits.
