Game 5 – 1985 Tournament Replay Angels at Expos

Critical Game 5 from Montreal has a starting pitching matchup of Mike Witt (15-9 3.56 Grade 12Y) versus Bryn Smith (18-5 2.91 Grade 14YZ).

The Expos would jump out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st as Vance Law takes Witt deep. Pitchers would be in control after that until the 6th when Tim Raines would walk, steal 2nd, and be driven home by Law. Smith would cruise through 8 innings and with one out he would walk Ruppert Jones. Reggie Jackson would step to the plate and do what he has done all of his career and drive a homer to right to tie the game. After a strikeout of Doug DeCinces, Bobby Grich drives a Smith pitch out to center to give the Angels a 3-2 lead. Donnie Moore would get the last 3 outs and the Angels now have a 3-2 series lead. Great comeback by the Angels.
