Game 4 – 1985 Tournament Replay Cardinals at White Sox

The White Sox with their backs against the wall down 3-0 send Gene Nelson (10-10 4.26 Grade 4YL) to the bump, while the Cardinals send stud lefty ace John Tudor (21-8 1.93 Grade 20YZG).

 

Pitchers come out strong as the game stays scoreless through 4 innings. The Cardinals once again break the ice scoring 3 runs in the 5th as Willie McGee doubles in 2 runs and Tommy Herr singles home McGee. The White Sox would answer back with 2 of their own in the bottom half as Luis Salazar doubles home a run and Rudy Law singled home Salazar. With the score still 3-2 in the bottom of the 8th the White Sox would have runners on second and third but Tudor would get Ron Kittle to fly out to center. Tudor would get them out in the 9th and the Cardinals move on to the Final Four with a four game sweep.
