The score would remain tied as we head to the 9th. With runners on 1st and 3rd and 2 out, Gary Carter would line a single to left center off Willie Hernandez to score Wilson and give the Mets a 4-3 lead. Gooden would pitch a perfect 9th striking out 2 more and the Mets have a 2-1 series advantage.
