Game 1 – 1985 Tournament Replay Expos @ Blue Jays

This Elite matchup up will feature the teams of Canada, the #10 seed Montreal Expos and the #2 seed Toronto Blue Jays. The Expos beat the Angels in 7, and the Blue Jays put away the Red Sox in 6.

 

Pitching matchup for Game 1 is Bill Laskey (5-16 4.91 Grade 2L) for the Expos and lefty Jimmy Key (14-6 3.00 Grade 14Z) for the Blue Jays.

 

The Blue Jays come out of the gate as the first two men reach and Lloyd Moseby drills a 3 run homer to center. In the top of the 5th the Expos would chip away at that lead scoring 2 runs. Tim Wallach would walk in front of Mitch Webster who would line a homer to left. The Jays would get 1 back in the bottom half as Garth Iorg would double in Damaso Garcia. In the 7th the Jays would get an insurance run as Garcia would hit a sac fly. Key and Tom Henke would take care of the rest and the Blue Jays grab a 1-0 lead in the series.
