Game 2 – 1985 Tournament Replay Dodgers @ Cardinals

Dodgers take home field advantage in Game 1 and send Orel Hershiser (19-3 2.03 Grade 20YZG) to the mound against big righty Danny Cox (18-9 Grade 15Z).

The Dodgers already ahead 1-0 in the series jump all over Danny Cox in the first sending 10 people to the plate and scoring 4 runs.  Big hits by Pedro Guerrero, Greg Brock, and Ken Landreaux driving in runs. Cardinals got lucky to not give up more as left the bases loaded. The Cardinals would scratch together a run in the second as Willie McGee would single in Ozzie Smith.

The score would remain 4-1 until the 7th as the Dodgers would get an insurance run courtesy of Mike Scioscia singling in Mariano Duncan. The Cardinals would get 2 off Hershiser in the 8th as McGee doubles in Vince Coleman and Tommy Herr singles in McGee. Herhisher would have no more though as he would get a double play ball from Jack Clark and go the distance. Dodgers with two huge wins on the road to start this series as we head to Chavez Ravine for Game 3.

Final Score: Dodgers 6, Cardinals 3

WP: Orel Herhiser (2-1)

LP: Danny Cox (2-1)
