Cubs get a huge win down 2-0 in the series as Greg Hibbard goes 6 1/3 scoreless in a 7-4 win. Dwight Smith and Sammy Sosa drive in big runs and the Cubs bullpen barely holds on. Cubs are now back in the series down 1-2 with Game 4 from Wrigley tomorrow. Box Score below.

Game 2 of the 79 NLCS has a pitching matchup of Jim Bibby (12-4 2.81 Grade 10YZ) for the Pirates and Frank Pastore (6-7 4.25 Grade 3YZ) for the Reds. Next series features the 14 seed Chicago Cubs vs the 3 seed Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies finished the regular season 97-65 and beat the Braves in the NLCS. The would lose to the Toronto Blue Jays in the World Series. The Cubs finished the season 84-78 and 4th in the NL East to the Phillies. The Phillies win Game 1 6-4 behind a huge 5 run 5th. Mariners score 2 unearned runs in the 1st and Jay Buhner hits a huge 2 run homer as they complete the huge upset winning 4-1. The Mariners would win 4 in a row after falling behind 2-0.
