APBA 1979 World Series Replay – Game 6 – Pirates @ Orioles

The Orioles win Game 5 and bring the series back to Baltimore and they turn to long time ace Jim Palmer (10-6 3.30 Grade 9Z) while the Pirates go with John Candelaria (14-9 3.22 Grade 12Z).

 

The Orioles come out quick again in Game 6 as they get a quick run in the 1st. Eddie Murray drives in Benny Ayala. In the 2nd they would get 3 more off Candelaria. Palmer helps himself with a sac fly RBI, Ayala again goes extra bases and drives in a run, and Ken Singleton drives in Ayala. The Pirates would chip away at the lead by getting a run ion the 3rd as Tim Foli would hit a sac fly scoring Candelaria.

 

In the 6th the Pirates would score another run as Willie Stargell would double in Dave Parker. With the score 4-2 in the 9th and Don Stanhouse on the mound for the Orioles the Pirates try to come back. With 2 outs Omar Moreno would single up the middle to score Bill Madlock and would leave runners on 1st and 3rd. Stanhouse would settle and get Foli to fly out to left and force a winner take all Game 7.
