APBA 1988 ALCS Replay – Game 5 – Boston Red Sox vs Oakland’s A’s

Must win Game 5 for the Red Sox and they send their ace Roger Clemens (18-12 2.93 XYZG) vs Storm Davis (16-7 3.70 Grade 10Y) for the A’s.

 

The Red Sox come out again and grab an early run as Wade Boggs hits a sac fly to right that scores Ellis Burks. The A’s would answer back in the bottom half with 2 runs courtesy of big 2 run homer to left by Mark McGwire. In the 3rd the Red Sox would finally get the big inning they have been looking for. Burks, Marty Barrett, and Boggs would get on base in front of Mike Greenwell how would deposit a Davis fastball in the right field seats. The Grand Slam would put the Red Sox up 5-2 with Clemens settling in. In the 5th the Red Sox would add another run as Jody Reed would single in Greenwell. In the 6th the Sox would get one more as Boggs would single in a run to make it 7-2.

 

This would be more than enough for Clemens as he found his groove after the McGwire homer. He would complete the game allowing 7 hits but only 3 after the first inning. Boston wins 7-3 and the series will shift back to Fenway for Game 6.
