Winner take all Game 7 of the 1979 World Series. Orioles have fought back from a 3-1 deficit and send Scott McGregor (13-6 3.35 Grade 10Z) to the mound and the Pirates go with Jim Bibby (12-4 2.81 Grade 10YZ). The Pirates come out quick as MVP Willie Stargell drives in 2 runs with a single to right. In the bottom of the 2nd Bibby would lead off. Bibby would take a McGregor fastball down the line to left for a home run and a 3-0 lead. (Don't think there have been many homers by pitchers in Game 7 of a World Series). In the bottom of the 3rd the Orioles would get 2 of those runs back as Kiko Garcia would triple to right scoring Al Bumbry…
The Orioles win Game 5 and bring the series back to Baltimore and they turn to long time ace Jim Palmer (10-6 3.30 Grade 9Z) while the Pirates go with John Candelaria (14-9 3.22 Grade 12Z). The Orioles come out quick again in Game 6 as they get a quick run in the 1st. Eddie Murray drives in Benny Ayala. In the 2nd they would get 3 more off Candelaria. Palmer helps himself with a sac fly RBI, Ayala again goes extra bases and drives in a run, and Ken Singleton drives in Ayala. The Pirates would chip away at the lead by getting a run ion the 3rd as Tim Foli would hit a sac fly scoring Candelaria. In the 6th the Pirates would score another run…
