APBA 1988 NLCS Replay – Game 7 – New York Mets vs Los Angeles Dodgers

Winner take all for the World Series. The Mets send Ron Darling (17-9 3.25 Grade 13YZ) to the hill against Orel Hershiser (23-8 2.26 Grade 19YZ).

This whole series has been pitched real good and this game was no exception. The score was 0-0 until the 3rd when the Dodgers would get a huge 2 out RBI by Kirk Gibson scoring Steve Sax. The Mets would get runners on in the 4th and 5th and Hershiser would induce double play ground balls in both innings. In the bottom of the 6th the Dodgers would get an insurance run as John Shelby would hit a homer to center field. With the 2 run lead Hershiser does what he did all season for the Dodgers. The Mets would manage to get runners on in the 8th and 9th but once again Hershiser would sit them down to secure the shutout, the series win, and a trip to the World Series. Dodgers win 2-0.

One note, Gibson didn’t get hurt in the NLCS in our replay so he will be available in the World Series. Going to be interesting to see if this makes a difference. 2 real good team with real good pitching staffs.

Final Score: Dodgers 2, Mets 0

WP: Orel Hershiser (3-0)

LP: Ron Darling (0-2)

HR’s: Dodgers – John Shelby (1)
