APBA 1988 World Series Replay – Game 2 – A’s vs Dodgers

The Dodgers looking to even the series send ace Orel Hershiser (23-8 2.26 Grade 19YZ) to the hill against Storm Davis (16-7 3.70 Grade 10Y).

 

The Dodgers strike first this time with a huge 4 run 1st. With one out Mickey Hatcher would single bringing up Kirk Gibson would would take Davis out of the park to right field to make it 2-0, 4 batters later Jeff Hamilton would double to right to score John Shelby and Mike Scioscia. The A’s would try to get back into the game as they would pick up a run in the 4th as Dave Parker would single in Jose Canseco.

 

In the 5th Hatcher would single to knock out Davis. The A’s would bring in Rick Honeycutt to face Gibson, but it was to no avail as Gibson would go deep again to make it 6-1. The A’s would get a 2 run homer by Mark McGwire in the 9th but it was too little too late as the Dodgers win the game 7-3 to even up the series at 1 as we head to Oakland for Game 3.
