Our playoff replay is a “what if” as the Astros beat the Phillies in the NLCS. The Royals send Dennis Leonard (20-11 3.79 Grade 11YZ) to the mound against Ken Forsch (12-13 3.20 Grade 13Z) for the Astros.
The Astros would get the scoring started in the 2nd with a huge inning as the would hit for the cycle in the inning. Cesar Cedano would homer (4th of the post-season!), Art Howe would triple in Denny Walling, and Alan Ashby would double in Walling. Enos Cabell would round out the scoring with a single to score Ashby. With the score 4-0 the Royals would get one back in the 3rd as Willie Wilson would double in UL Washington.
Ken Forsch would take care of the rest as he would be in complete control scattering 7 hits in the complete game to give the Astros a Game 1 win in the World Series. Royals ground into 2 big double plays that thwarted any chance to get back into the game.
Final Score: Astros 4, Royals 1
WP: Ken Forsch (2-0)
LP: Dennis Leonard (1-1)
HR’s: Astros – Cesar Cedano (4)
