Astros looking to win 3 in a row and win the World Series send Ken Forsch (12-13 3.20 Grade 13Z) to the hill against Larry Gura (18-10 2.95 Grade 15Z) for the Royals.
The story of this playoff has been the Astros bats and this game was another example as the Astros come out strong getting 3 quick runs off Gura. Joe Morgan and Jose Cruz single in runs and Cesar Cedano again delivers, this time a RBI double. Down 3-0 and their back against the wall the Royals do some damage of their own in the first. After a Hal McRae single, all world George Brett would again go yard to make it 3-2 Astros.
In the 4th the Astros would get an insurance run as Denny Walling getting the start against a lefty would come through with a RBI single. In the bottom of the 4th the Royals would tie the game up. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and 2 out Frank White would rip a single to center to score both runners. With the score tied at 4, the Astros would break the deadlock with a run in the 6th as Cesar Cedano would score on a wild pitch. The Astros bullpen of Joe Sambito and Dave Smith would take care of the rest as the would get the last 9 outs in order for a 5-4 win and a World Series Championship in our replay. Astros win the World Series 4 games to 1.
