Must win Game 3 has the Yankees sending Tommy John (22-9 3.43 Grade 13Z) to the mound opposite Paul Splittorff (14-11 4.15 Grade 6Z) for the Roayls. The Yankees come out with their backs against the wall and score the first run of the game as Reggie Jackson singles in Bucky Dent. Game 2 with the Royals leading 1-0 has a pitching matchup of Rudy May (15-5 2.46 Grade 14YZ) for the Yankees and Dennis Leonard (20-11 3.79 Grade YZ) for the Royals. The Royals again would draw first blood as Willie Wilson scores on passed ball by Rick Cerone. Game 1 of the ALCS from Royals stadium pits lefties Ron Guidry (17-10 3.56 Grade 11Y) for the Yankees vs Larry Gura (18-10 2.95 Grade 15YZ) for the Royals. Two premier lefties start out the ALCS and the starters keep it scoreless through 2. In the 3rd the Royals would get two unearned runs off Guidry. Guidry makes an error on a grounder and Lou Piniella fumbles a ball down the line. Willie Aikens and Darrell Porter score the runs to make it 2-0. Winner take all and a trip to the World Series from Fenway Park. Starting pitchers are Dave Stewart (21-12 3.23 Grade 15YG) for the A's vs Bruce Hurst (18-6 3.66 Grade 11YZ) for the Red Sox. The A's get on the board first in the 2nd as Mike Gallego lines a single to right center to score Stan Javier. The Red Sox would answer in a big way on the bottom half as they plate 4 runs and bat around. Big run scoring hits by Rich Gedman and Ellis Burks lead the way. Red Sox get the series back to Fenway and send Mike Boddicker (13-15 3.39 Grade 13YZ) to the mound against Bob Welch (17-9 3.64 Grade 11YZ). The A's would strike first as with 2 outs in the 1st Jose Canseco would take Boddicker over the Green Monster for a quick 1-0 lead. Welch and Boddicker would be in complete control for the next 5 innings as we would still be 1-0 heading to the bottom of the 6th. The Red Sox would bar around and score 3 runs off Welch. Must win Game 5 for the Red Sox and they send their ace Roger Clemens (18-12 2.93 XYZG) vs Storm Davis (16-7 3.70 Grade 10Y) for the A's. The Red Sox come out again and grab an early run as Wade Boggs hits a sac fly to right that scores Ellis Burks. The A's would answer back in the bottom half with 2 runs courtesy of big 2 run homer to left by Mark McGwire. In the 3rd the Red Sox would finally get the big inning they have been looking for. The Red Sox come out of the gate and grab a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Wade Boggs would double with 2 outs and Mike Greenwell would double to deep right center scoring Boggs. After the Orioles shutout they are one win away from the World Series and they send Scott McGregor (13-6 3.35 Grade 10Z) to the mound against Chris Knapp (5-5 5.51 Grade 1) who will pitch to keep the Angels alive.
