The Cardinals sweep this Elite 8 matchup as the White Sox offense was never able to get anything going against Cardinal pitching only scoring 4 runs in the series. The Cardinal offense did their normal thing with speed and occasional power to build leads in each game. Cardinal defense was clutch all series as well. The Cardinals move onto the Final Four to face the winner of the Dodger/Astros series.   Game 1: Cardinals 4, White Sox 0 Game 2: Cardinals 5, White Sox 1 Game 3: Cardinals 5, White Sox 1 Game 4: Cardinals 3, White Sox 2

The White Sox with their backs against the wall down 3-0 send Gene Nelson (10-10 4.26 Grade 4YL) to the bump, while the Cardinals send stud lefty ace John Tudor (21-8 1.93 Grade 20YZG).   Pitchers come out strong as the game stays scoreless through 4 innings. The Cardinals once again break the ice scoring 3 runs in the 5th as Willie McGee doubles in 2 runs and Tommy Herr singles home McGee. The White Sox would answer back with 2 of their own in the bottom half as Luis Salazar doubles home a run and Rudy Law singled home Salazar. Back to Chicago for Game 3 and the White Sox send lefty Floyd Bannister (10-14 4.87 Grade 3XL) to the mound and the Cardinals send Bob Forsch (9-6 3.40 Grade 4Z).   The Cardinals up 2-0 in the series continue to put the heat on by scoring first in the 3rd inning as Willie McGee hits a sac fly to score Vince Coleman. In the 4th they would add two more, Darrell Porter with a RBI double and Ozzie Smith added a RBI single. The Cardinals would add 2 more in the 6th to take a 5-0 lead.
