In our replay the Tigers beat the Royals 3-0 and the Padres beat the Cubs 3-1.   Game 1 features a matchup of Jack Morris (19-11 3.60 Grade 11) and Mark Thurmond (14-8 2.97 Grade 13).   The Padres would score the first run of the World Series as Bobby Brown hits a sac fly to score Tony Gwynn. The Tigers would get that run back in the top half of the 2nd as Barbaro Garbey singles home Larry Herndon. The Tigers would get a run as Kirk Gibson would walk, steal second, and advance to third on a throwing error by Don Slaught. Instead of laying down the bunt Lollar lines a Sanderson pitch out of the park to right.
